Is it an amphib? can't tell what it is.

"Whoever did fly it, it would probably be in their best interests to come forward to talk to the FAA," Donnelly said.

Why would that be in the pilot's best interest? Sounds like a 91.13 revocation would be immediate.

Tough to say, the step in the bottom makes it look like an amphib, but I don't know, neither do the authorities apparently.

Those crazy Icon pilots..

I put this in the no harm no foul category. I've wanted to fly under the Mackinac Bridge a few times, but the way 91.119 is worded I'd be busted.

Looks like an Ag plane, whose pilots routinely fly under 30 foot power lines. Not sure why someone would want to bring attention to themselves doing it, but I guess someone was impressed.

Was this temptation during one of your 50' excursions? I definitely get the video game temptation. Too bad Star Wars canyon isn't open to the public. Can you imagine the carnage if they had open GA days? lol

Looks like a Pawnee. Maybe an out of town cropduster that's been flying over that bridge for a couple of months and on his way back after his last load finally said "Oh wth.. why not!?"

From the article, that's a 38' bridge.. Pfft.. That's nothing for an aerial applicator. Start working under a wire on one side of the field and by the time you get to the middle, you're turning your tires green. I've pulled more than a few handfuls of corn tassels out of brakes when refueling those guys.

Nah, I wasn't that close. My 50' flights occur in winter/early spring/late fall when there are no boats out on the water except for maybe a stray fishing boat near one of the warm water discharges. Fly about 1/4 mile off shore below the tops of the dunes and generally get a ton of waves from beach walkers. Only flown that altitude from LWA (South Haven) north to FKS (Frankfort). Not all in one flight though. Did fly through MKG (Muskegon's) airspace not too long ago where they were surprised at my altitude call out, and said they couldn't see me on radar. I said I was probably below it, and then had me maintain VFR below like 800' (water is just under 600') until I was past the corridor for their active runway. North of Frankfort is the National Lakeshore, so I climb up to 3000' or so when I'm up there.

If it's an amphib, and it's landing it's sort of legal(ish).
But it's not an amphib and it's not landing, so not legal.

I fly 50' sometimes less over the Hudson, and as much as I'd love to go under the bridges (because I'm lazy and don't want to pull back on the stick) I'm a good boy and climb over them.
For the past few years, someone has been flying under the Newburgh-Beacon bridge. Security cameras on the Newburgh side regularly show him. The plane appears to be an RV of some sort.

No harm, no foul. I personally wouldn't do it... but what a waste of time trying to hunt them on. If they caught them in the act fine.. but now move on.

Fake??? Any reflection in the water?? Not sure where vortices start flying over water but seems close enough.

Rudder seems too big to be a Pawnee...but quality is crud so who knows.

Not saying I would, but if I did - one pass, at dusk, staring a bit high, using God's "G" to accelerate kinda quietly. Pick a time with minimal vehicle traffic, and a bridge kinda isolated in WVA. Not saying I would, but I'd scout the bridge from the road, in advance, and maybe from the air a couple days ahead of time, look for them perky wires, etc.

Acro or Ag guys, probably no sweat - but me, I'd want to be straight and level, well in advance of passing under. . .

That is a screenshot from an RC flight simulator called real flight. It is not real. I don't have it installed on a computer right now or I could reproduce the shot.

Source???? Pretty funny if it is, especially after the Delaware Joint Toll Booth Commission said it was a real aircraft.

I can't drive over the Nice bridge between MD and VA without thinking about flying under it.

This is why all things that fly should have ADSB out.

There you go, someone had to say it.

I have a friend who just about flew his helicopter under a bridge but thought of all the fishing lines he’s seen hanging from other bridges with lures, weights etc.

He decided it wasn’t a good idea

No, not from real flight...I have real flight.

Here is a couple of shots from google street view of the bridge.Bridge1.jpg Bridge2.jpg

Yeah, you’re gonna make me dig through boxes to find the disks. Lol I don’t care enough yet to waste the time. My version is more than 5 years old, that might be why you disagree.

The proportions aren’t right either. Look at the cars on the bridge, they’re as tall as the airplane.

Do it Salty, you can blow up the whole story if you can prove you're correct, would be fun to see.

The plane is obviously too small, relative to the bridge size, to be real.

"Many questioned whether the stunt was authentic or if the photo may have been doctored.

The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, which owns the bridge, put that question to rest on Monday, according to the Bucks County Courier Times.

A commission spokesman said the photo that circulated online came from one of their own cameras. "
