Hey, Steve!
My wife, her sister, and I are gng to a nerd convention January 25th near KFWA. If VMC we want to fly in the Apache. My sister in law will be 5 months pregnant. Any medical concerns (I plan on 2500' under Chicago Bravo then 3500' the rest of the way)?

She has flown in the Apache just fine the last few months, but as she is getting farther along I thought I'd ask and hopefully an aviation medical doctor pilot with kids will throw in some info. :D

None I can think of. Pressurized flights have cabin alts in the 8000 ft range. They recommend against flying later in pregnancy but I wouldn't be surprised that its not because flying causes labor, but if labor happens you are not likely to be near your doctor and medical records...

We flew when my wife was pregnant. Lots of squirming around in there when the engine noise ramped up, but everything was fine...

When Fran was pregnant, the squadron flight surgeon recommended using supplemental O2 above 10,000 rather than the regulatory levels. He also recommended that she stop flying without another pilot after the second trimester, both for the possibility of premature labor and because of interference with aft yoke travel (she got pretty large towards the end).

I think, Steve, that perception on the part of your SIL is more important than any fact. You don't want to be blamed forever for the outcome that niece/nephew didn't turn out right. Think about that.
