Flying to the Bahamas in an Experimental-Amateur Built?

I currently own a certified aircraft but I'm interested in owning an E-AB later (something like a Sonex, Zenith, etc.).

It looks like E-AB aircrafts require an additional paperwork to fly to the Bahamas, as suggested from this link: https://www.eaa.org/eaa/aircraft-bu...us-border-crossing-information-for-homebuilts

My question is how much paperwork, how complicated, and how long would it take get all these paperwork approved?

If anyone has flown to the Bahamas in an E-AB, any advice would be appreciated.

It’s already done for you. You just print the letter that’s available on the website you posted and keep it with the airplane. That’s it. They’ll probably never ask to see it.
 
do you still need to have 12" tail #'s? is that actually a thing they ever look for?

Todd, do you have the radio license? I looked at the form and it appears to be the standard Government form where it takes about 10 pages of instructions and probably a flowchart to successfully complete the form.

yes, that’s a FAR part 45 ADIZ penetration requirement. Most people I know with 3” numbers just use tape to make temp 12” numbers.

I fly over every 3 weeks. You will not be asked for any papers to include a radio license.
true, i have never been asked for mine anywhere in 20 years of international flying, but it is still legally required.
