Touchdown! Greaser!
Chandler, AZ has a nice lunch place on there field.
The one at KVNY is still there, too.I didn't realize there were any of these left.
Spitfire grill at WDR
Flying Machine at LZU
Downwind Restaurant at PDK
I am looking for the best fly-in restaurants in the us. I am a airline pilot that has been out of the GA world for a while but getting back in. I do have a few requirements.
- All I see every day in the airline world are 10k foot runways and miles of pavement. So I prefer minimal pavement
- I would like the restaurants/airport to have some history, have been around for a while, or have a good story.
- last but not least the food has to be excellent.
The restaurants can be anywhere in the us or Alaska. My goal is to visit as many as possible over the next few years. Thanks to all who contribute for helping me on my journey!
The Tin Goose is great for atmosphere but I was not too impressed with the food. I would recommendPort Clinton Ohio PCW has the Tin Goose Diner and the Liberty Aviation Museum with adjacent tiedowns - but the runways have about a mile
94th Aero Squadron at KMYF you can taxi right over to the outdoor patio. You must go for the Sunday buffet brunch from 9am-3pm its the best time.

KLUK can't remember the name but a nice place to eat. Can catch a cab to Great American Ballpark if the Red legs are in town.
Gastons Restaurant at 3M0
I enjoy Flo’s at Chino (CNO) in Chino, California. Great food and two great museum’s on the field.
I can also vouch for Flo's. I have been going there (and to Planes of Fame and Yank's air museums) since I was a kid. A lot has changed but still a pretty worthwhile experience. They also have a B-17 at Planes of Fame (at least last time I went).Flo's at CNO is fantastic, but the airport is fairly large and so are the runways.
I learned to fly there! I was there when they were remodeling to build that restaurant and enjoyed the food there for a while. I'm kind of sad they redid the walls though, they used to have a ton of pilot signatures (some over 40-50 years old) on the white bricks.Apple Valley Airport, CA
All right down the road from me and I have not given any of them a try.
I have been to Elevation Chophouse at KRYY and thought it was pretty good! The Liquid Nitrogen drinks are particularly interesting if your not flying out after.
It might be, but it's apparently only open during the summer -- as in, REAL summer, not even early autumn. I was there in late September last year and it was already closed. Can't forget Block Island - KBID. Restaurant on the field, and nice little town not far away.
Have to go to Enrique’s Mexican Restaurant in Ponca City OK. US. It’s been there for 40 years and is some of the best/most authentic Mexican/cuban food. The airport there is relatively small and gas isn’t bad in price at all. Promise you won’t regret flying in!I am looking for the best fly-in restaurants in the us.
