Does anyone around Texas set planes up on floats? I am thinking about putting my Breezy on Amphib floats.breezy hangar.png

Are you going to build the floats yourself or purchase the floats and have them installed?

Installation is not hard but can cause performance problems if not done correctly. I know a fellow who has a cub he had a nice set of amphibian floats installed. Had problems with it yawing to one side and airspeed was not what he expected. He took the cub to a different A&P/IA who re-rigged it, now it fly's straight with and gets the speed he expected.

Can't you just turn the Cherokee wheel pants upside down? Well, use some duct tape to seal the holes first.

I'd be MUCH more interested in the beast behind your Breezy. I see I might have to visit Brenham soon. Is the diner re-open? (if so, we'll do a massive fly-out from Nuevo Calyfornya ... aka Awsten)

There are a few Searay's and at least one Lake at T67. So, yah, Texans are okay with amphib.

I suspect you'll be very weight and CG conscious?

Yeah, I'm thinking this isn't a marriage made in heaven. I've flown in a DHC-2 Beaver and even with the ungodly power the radial makes, it still climbs like a turd. I'm fairly convinced the land solution is optimal but if you live in a place with no land and calm water I guess it would be okay.

The diner is not open yet but they are working on it. Let me know if you come down.. I have lots of cool stuff to fly :) I did sell the Model 12 a couple of weeks ago though. The good news is I am still insured to fly it.

Careful, I might take you up on that! :)
Let us know when the diner re-opens, pretty please. Brenham is a good destination, we love flying in.

Ok since no one has mentioned it yet. Do you really need wheelpants on a breezy??? what does that get you like 0.02 kts??? :D

Look, we know you're the guy with the unzipped fly in a rain shower. Do you really want to be the guy who advocates for flying without pants?

Why would you ever wear pants in a breezy??? Isn't the point of that aircraft to be floppin' in the wind????

It does not get any extra speed, the Breezy is not for speed. I think the wheel pants look cool and it keeps rocks out of the prop on off field landings.

Sweet hangar!
