Fly it like you STOL it ♦
Looks like Mena will work for us for a first leg 'stretch our legs' planning ... then Quincy ... then OSH.

I'm going to break up the flight into thirds with two stops and re-fuel at Quincy unless nature, weather, or mechanics dictates otherwise. 1st leg to Mena's 324s.m. ... leg to Quincy 408s.m. ... then OSH 300s.m. and we're done.

Anyone landed at Mena? Is it pretty good? Are they mean in Mena? ;)

Last time I was there (admittedly a dozen years ago) Mena had a wonderful aviation community with interior, engine, avionics, paint shops, etc. Some were off-field and you just taxied down the street to get to them.

The airport is (was) quite nice.

Lots and lots and lots of drugs run in/out of there back in the 70s and 80s...as well as Huntsville, AR.

If the troopers are circled around the airport, the coke is being unloaded. It's your chance to turn into a pro coke pilot for the protected operation. Free Plane.... I think it's still $40k no investment to just fly it, more if you buy the load, way more. You might get a free party if they have a busted key.;)

I had my plane painted there a few years ago. Good FBO with easy in/out. Might be some traffic because of all the various services. Kind of down in between the hills, but no big deal. No frills, just all business.

Mena! That's where Barry seal set up his " delivery business" with the help of the CIA.

How do you think Clinton became Governor and POTUS? How do you think they afford all their mansions? It's the safest airport you'll ever fly into. They used to have a really good paint shop on the field as well which is what took me there.

Thanks and thanks and whaaaa?

So they have good weed and blow?

I could use a little pick-me-up! :happydance:

Which paint shop? Last time I was there, the guy at the FBO said they had something like 13 "paint shops" in the area...

Mena Aircraft Painting..Owners are Doug and Rhonda. Great job on my Mooney. One hint. Don't price shop around the field, even though there are several paint shops on the field. They all have breakfast together and know who has shopped what and where. I tried that and one shop I called said.."Oh yeah, you have the Mooney, didn't you talk to XYZ shop yesterday?"..Opps:dunno:, my bad. Don't think there is 13 shops, but at least 4 or 5.

Back in the early 90s there was one.:dunno:

Mena is a nice airport, very beautiful countryside. Just be careful if the weather is bad, the nearby mountains have eaten a lot of planes over the years inIMC weather. Speaking of eating... just a few miles east is 7M3, Bearce airport at Mt. Ida Arkansas. There's a little restaurant at the Crystal Inn motel just east of the airport that has good food. Just park on the ramp and a short walk to the motel which is the east next door neighbor to the airport. Last time I was there I had the chicken fried steak and it was awesome. I understand the restaurant is under new management and now has BBQ too... gonna have to fly there and check that out someday since it's only about 1.5 hrs away from my home field by RV6.
