I've put up a few gallery sites for people who wanted to post aviation-related photos, and even had a few members sign up; but no one (except me) ever posted any pictures. So I took them down. They were just wasting space and resources on the server.

By the way -- sorry for my prolonged absence. A new relationship and all the "getting to know you" stuff that goes along with that, a series of family emergencies spread over four states, and the usual aggravation at work have been conspiring to eat up my time for the past couple of months. (I'm still managing to find time to fly, however. :wink2: )

I've recently begun using Picasa(3.0). It has some very useful tools, one of which is that it continually backs up my images from the Sony software which came with my Sony A900 DSLR. I think my A900 may be the first one delivered to Maine. Ritz Camera Centers(Maine Mall - South Portland) was amazed when I walked in on October 10 with the A900. "Hey, could we look at that? It's not supposed to be in distribution until the October 20 release date."

Picasa, but I don't make my stuff public. Invite only, doncha know....

(Not that the public really wants to see hundreds of pictures of my kids)

I'm in agreement on the "don't make my stuff public." Why put it "out there" where people can just print the goods for which I might have $ale$. If I share some images with friends I'll note: Photos © by Lawreston / Distinctive Views All rights Reserved. For personal use, only; not for redistribution.

True friends will honor the notation.

By the way, congratulations on the Phillies. It was almost as exciting as the Texas Tech defeat of Texas in yesterday's college games.

I have several but mine are all private, by invitation.
One of the local stations did a segment on personal pix showing up in company ads. It basically said some advertising agency pulled a few pix off one of these services and used them without permission in an ad campaign.
The point being, if you make it available, anyone can use them.
