This will be first time I’m going to be Airventure since I found out about it three years ago. What would you recommend for me to bring for daily walking around the event? I plan on staying in a hotel with some friends.

Initial Fix
Plus spend time looking at the forums schedule and plan as needed.
Remember, AV is enclosed by two 10000 foot runways. There's a lot to see. Comfortable shoes, a good hat for the sun, sun glasses. Money. A good attitude.
Patience. Especially on the trams/buses. In my experience most of the aviation folks are friendly and courteous, but there's a lot of folks in Camp Scholler that treat the whole thing as just a big fairground to visit with their RVs. Their kids are bored and they're all hot and are tired of walking.
