Interesting, so they got the FAA approvals done?

I assume this was one of the aircraft that was built after the 20 or so that were sitting on the ramp, already in ANA livery? I think those aircraft had to go back into the line to be retrofitted with last-minute things that changed, or they couldn't be certified.

Or are they still waiting on the certification stuff? I haven't kept track in a few months.

Visited the factory last year though, and there were plenty of painted ANA aircraft already outside... so I'm not quite "getting" how this one is different, other than it's a fancier paint scheme...?

What am I missing that makes this one different? They're quite a ways away from flying this one away and putting it into service still, right?

Very cool stuff up there at Boeing... fun to watch 'em hanging engines on 747's... I could stand up there in the gallery all day (they wouldn't let ya, though...).

Within a week or two.

Cool. A friend was in the flight test engineering group. They sound like they have good spirits and are proud of their accomplishments with the new bird.

Nice to see a big ("evil") U.S. company having a good time manufacturing big cool stuff.

Computers are boring in comparison. ;)

Don't they have a bunch of them built (or 99%) and on the ramp waiting for finalization?

They were all over the place when I was there last year. Most already in ATA colors.
