So today I had the chance to head over to the Airport and take my First Flight as a Private Pilot! I invited my Brother to tag along, and it was also his first flight in any kind of Aircraft. Just a nice Local sightseeing Flight.

We departed Runway 13 at BYY and departed to the Northwest with the goal to find my Dad at work. We did so with no problem, and did a few Turns around the area to give my Brother the time to take a few pics.

After he got a few photos I waggled the wings and turns South. The plan was then to head to the Coast and fly along it. While headed South we Climbed up over the Clouds and went up to 4,000ft. While up there, my Brother asked... "Hey, is it normal to have a Rainbow around the Plane's shadow?" I told him it was a Pilot's Halo, and had him take a few pics. It did not come out all that well, but oh well. While headed South I looked at the GPS to see what the Ground speed was, as it felt horrably slow. It was showing 60-65kts of Groundspeed. A far cry from normal. So I turned east and desended back down below the Clouds in an attempt to gain speed. We started getting 75kts. When we reached the Coast, we turned east and started getting 95kts GS. We then turned North towards the Airport and flew over my House. We took some pics and turned back on course. We then turned west and flew over the place we used to work. Snaped a few pics and headed to the Airport. the Landing was made less graceful by a Crosswind, but I got her down nice and smooth.

Ok, here are some pics my Brother took. I'll have a video up soo as well.

Congratulations!

Please tell us about your check ride too, if you haven't already.

Nice pix too.

You will never forget your first flight with a pax just like you won't forget your first solo. nice that you could take up your brother.

That's great Justin! My first passenger was my mom, which seems pretty amazing now that I think about it.

Felt pretty good didn't it Dustin. :D

Yes, Yes it did. It was awesome to have the freedom of choosing where I go, for once. No schedule, no plan other than fun local Flight.

Fixed that for ya. :D

Hey, how long does a stop have to be, before you log it as two different Flights?

Tomorrow, I'll be flying over to LBX, making a full stop at LBX with a stop of unknown length. Could be 10mins, might be 30mins I can't really say. Then I'll be departing LBX for IWS. Same thing, I'll be stopping there for an unknown amount of time.

Bah!!! Prop!!!

LOL, just giving you crap (first pic - bad practice).

Congrats on the PPL, I missed that part of the thread. Glad to see you using it.

FWIW - your question about logging as two flights? I log every leg of my flights as multiple flights. Makes it easier to plot using my electronic logbook and Google Earth. But the answer is: There's no answer. Its your logbook, log 'em as you see fit. Some people will log an entire month as one entry.

Yeah, seams easier to log them as multiple flights.

What Electronic Logbook do you use? I've been thinking about getting one.

I use Log Ten Pro, because I have a Mac. If you have a PC, LogBook Pro is the best you'll find.

I should say: If you're going to go electronic, do it NOW! The longer you wait, the harder it is to convert, because you'll have to enter all of your flights.

Congratulations. Great feeling, isn't it??!!
