Everything Offends Me
Was is just Albuquerque, or did it seem to y'all like there were more fireworks put off last night than there have been in a long time?

Is it our new President? Is it the economy? Am I imagining it? Maybe fireworks were cheaper?

What say y'all?

It was nuts here. I had been watching Band of Brothers last week. I should have put the DVD on last night for a real THX/Sensaround/Home Theater feel. Our house was shaking!!! It wasn't until after midnight that the bombardment slowed down.

How about increased availability of cheap Chinese imports....

It was like that here both Friday night and Saturday night. I'm hearing some tonight too but not like the last two nights. My dog doesn't like the fireworks. She's been barking like crazy every time she hears them.

Last night was the first time in a couple of years that I set off way too many fireworks. A group of friends and I got together and all purchased a bunch of cheap stuff from one of those big wholesale stores in SC. :D

The neighbors are still setting off stuff tonight.

I think the rain here dampened the fireworks this year. At least there was no fire danger....

Everything in my town is illegal, but there's still a little action. I didn't notice much difference from last year.

I spent most of the day/night at my brother's, who lives in a town where everything is LEGAL. There is always so much being blown up that I'd never be able to tell if it was more than the previous year or not.

More than ever and for days before Independence Day, with many big bombs going off. On the 4th of July, just after sunset flying over the suburbs, it's a CONTINUOUS carpet of flashes and bursts as far as there are street blocks, in all directions, often for many miles.

They had a fireworks truck explode in Ocracoke. 4 dead.

I had more fun at my friends fireworks than the one the City of Raleigh put on.

I had a FSS weather briefing this morning (7/5/09) for a flight from Montgomery Field in San Diego up to Bracket Field in Los Angeles. The briefer told me calm winds, clear sky's with 4 miles visibility at KPOC. She pointed out that the haze was caused by the smoke from all the fireworks the night before, it was just hanging in the Los Angeles basin.

Did you get to see any fireworks out there in San Diego last night? I hear they were AMAZING!!!!!

I had to work in the morning, too tired. I can see the high ones from my house, if it wasn't for that darn hill. I'm only a mile away from San Diego bay.

I bought fewer than in past years. Seemed like the price had gone up significantly around here. However, that didn't dampen the show up and down Budd Inlet. Just stood on the dock and watched. Needed to look in a 180 degree arc at all times to keep from missing anything. And alot of that stuff was way beyond what you could legally buy in the local stands. The indian reservations must have been doing well in their sales (as usual). :D

Preparing for the coming revolution perhaps. Creating a diversion?

Dunno what kind of societal statement this makes - I saw a couple kids lighting firecrackers, saying "Look at me, I'm a terrorist! yiyiyiyiyi!" and throwing the firecrackers into the air.

Saw plenty of legal firework shows and plenty of legal "safe & sane" stuff in the neighborhoods. Not as many of the illegal kind this year. Still saw lot of them going 20 - 30' up and going pop, but not nearly as much as 2006 or 07.

Those years you could stand on a hill and see low level illegal fireworks going off all over the metro area for 30 miles around. It literally filled the sky just above the houses as cars weaved around the big mortar tubes left in the middle of streets. But not so much this time.
