Thanks to everyone who helped along the journey from Alaska to Missouri...

I drove about 3,000 miles, met lots of great people, and discovered that there is ABSOLUTELY nothing in the mid west... Nebraska and Wyoming? Flat and red soil... Missouri will have some getting used to... For now, I'm hunkered down in Northern Missouri...

Looking forward to flying around the states again, heck! Some good $200 hamburgers... Anyone in Missouri on the forum??

Wow, I grew up there. Prepare to be bored to tears ! Cold winters and HOT humid-sticky summers. No mountains, no ocean, no winning football team. Try and escape as soon as you're able to !

I'm here in the KC metro area.

PS - And thx for the AK info!

I'm not too far away. If you wanna do some flying, lemme know. Gastons is not too far from either of us. Walnut ridge, Dyersburg, little rock, Springdale....all good food spots to fly into.

What I'm really tryin ta say is I need excuses to fly....so let's meet up and grab some grub!

This just in: the ozarks aren't mountains and the KC Chiefs don't ever win.
News to me. He just came from AK, so "cold" winters in Misery must be a bit of a joke. Personally, I'd take the lakes in MO over the oceans in the US just about any day of the week. Less corrosive, no jellyfish.

I grew up in North Central MO, where are you at now? In KC now.

I just moved from the STL area.

If you get a chance stop in at Creve Coeur (1H0), they have a very nice vintage aircraft museum and lots of neat old airplanes based there.

There have been more than a few times when due to an Canadian cold front you'll see lower temps in KC than in Anchorage ! As for the Lake of the Ozarks - not real good for scuba diving , zero visibility and full of empty Budweiser tall-boy cans !

Those of us in Missouri manage to have fun. :D

I'm in Southwest MO. Maybe we need to have another fly-in at the farm this year.

I'm all in... I am living in Warrensburg... 30ish min outside of KC and a 20min commute to base. I need you Missouri folks how good flying is in the states, because as of right now, I'm really missing my 800ft grass strip and Citabria... River bed landings, Mt McKinley out the back window... Ahhh, oh how I DONT miss the winters... F*** That...

Lake of the Ozarks, eh? Farm fly in, eh? Do tell...

The Farm:

Down by Table Rock Lake is a grass strip airpark (MO00) with a restaurant. They have fly-ins with food once a month in the summer and early fall.

The Hangar Cafe restaurant at the Bolivar, MO airport is open again.

There is another Hangar Kafe at a grass strip, Kingsley Airfield, with active skydiving and cropdusting on a grass strip west of Springfield, MO. I can't find a website for that Hangar Kafe, but they have a Facebook page with more info.

Sometimes to have fun in Missouri, we fly to Kansas or Arkansas. :D

Beaumont Hotel

We also meet up at the Miami County Airport for BBQ.

Or there is Gaston's Resort in northern Arkansas.

Lol, yeah but the duration of the winter is a bit different. Tallboys deserve to be appreciated just like any other reef artifact!

Jeff City is an easy hop, and there is a restaurant on the field. I think the local FBO at JEF also has pizza and other stuff for lunch on some Fridays.
