F-18 down in San Diego neighborhood

Yep I've read that pilot ejected

But did he say over the radio "Mayday,Mayday,Mayday" before he punched out?
No but I think he said something about "being in a flat spin and going out to sea" and then he followed it up with "ATITAPA"

No word on the pilot yet?

The house and plane are a total lose.

CNN says he was not in contact with ATC when he went down, according to the FAA....

so ,.. was he on a flight plan? Gotta love these news reports getting out so quickly. Apparently no informaiton on ground casualties yet, but the pilot is ok with minor injuries....

Shame it couldn't have gone into those sports fields just passed the houses, or over to the RR tracks.....

Fox News reports the pilot got out and is OK and no injuries/deaths on the ground. Pretty lucky.

I never figured out how Maverick and Goose could be spinning out to sea while doing maneuvers at Miramar which is in the DESERT.

 Indeed. Always hated that movie.

yea i've always preferred something sweeter for the last course of my meal. salt water just doesnt cut it...

Man, I sure hope he didn't run out of fuel.... :nono:

The massive fire would seem to make that unlikely... but witnesses reported the plane was quiet, as if the engines weren't running. Ignition issues?
No, his engine obviously stalled :yikes:

News is not good. Pilot ejected is in the hosptial but two on the ground inside a home died. Press says about 2mi from landing at Miramar. From smoke in the photo it seems like he almost missed the houses but unfortunatly did not.

What I don't get is the guy who backed his truck over the flaming debris and said I Just filled it with gas and it blew up. What the hell was with that? Press had to have reported that incorrectly. At least I hope they did.
