Yea, I was looking at KDEN today and the surface analysis grabbed my attention. Pulled up aviation weather and was like....

Geebus... that’s some pretty fierce winds. Dallas got rocked pretty fierce also from the other thread. Be careful out there!
 
KCOS had a 97 mph gust today and blizzard conditions all day. I have 4 foot drifts in my driveway. National Guard called out to rescue stranded motorists on I-25 and other major roads here in Colorado. I haven't been to my airport (roads all closed) so will have to check once the roads are open...maybe in June!!!

I don’t recall ever seeing METARs reporting winds that strong, other than during a hurricane. Yikes!
 
What does the "LTG DSNT S PRESRR" part mean?
 
It was a hell of a goodbye for my family. We move Saturday. But first, let’s see altimeters south of 29.00 at den, thunder snow, 5 foot drifts at the house, and 10 inches of snow that fell under 50 knot sustained wind with gusts topping 75 knots during a 8 hour period.

I haven’t even seen a plow in hours - I think they all got stuck.
 
Indeed, it was quite something. Seems like the worst is over, but most area counties shut down so most everyone was home. Lots of stuff canceled for tomorrow, too.
 
You folks stay safe, We find that staying in and staying warm works.
That is one hell of a big storm.
 
Man, I almost got stuck there last night! We decided deviating around t-storms covering NE/KS was easier than waiting out the storms and trying to depart in a blizzard...
 
Friend of mine was supposed to come home Tuesday night from St. Louis. Delayed until Weds. Weds cancelled. Next flight home they can book him on comes home late Saturday night. I told him to see if SWA would transfer his ticket to Hertz...

I saw some report (CDOT?) that said even the plows weren't out because of whiteout conditions. I know that here in Evergreen, I didn't see a plow in my subdivision until very late in the day.

I've lived off and on in Colorado since the early 90's, and this is one of the most intense storms I can remember. I like snow and wintry weather, but this is too much.
 
Tried to drive out to KFTG to see if my airplane was resting comfortably in the hangar. Got to within a mile of Front Range where an oil tanker had slid of the road and allowed the road to clog with several feet of blowing snow. I was driving a 4 wheel truck but getting stuck that far out in the tulles was probably not a good idea. It surprised me with all the plow trucks just a few miles away trying to get I 70 open that the county would not put one on the priority job a getting the access road open to the spaceport. I could understand ignoring an airport but a shiny new spaceport what gives!

I was under the impression the road (48th?) and Imboden (the N-S) road are considered critical to eastern plains' residents as alternate access to DIA. I plan to head out there Friday about lunch to see if I need to shovel the hangar door.
 
I "heard" 6PC was able to get in with the SR22. Something about SynViz and being too slick to ice up.
