Well, I took a 40% pay CUT when I went to work for the public sector. Happy ending? The only "positive" is that I'm now in the state pension system instead of Social Security, which will probably be empty by the time I retire. Wait, I'm in Illinois! A funded pension system? Ha!You may have noted, Ken, that public sector employees now earn (on average) substantially-higher wages than their equivalently-qualified counterparts in the private sector, and they have minimal risk of job loss.
So, my answer would be, "Yes."
