I fly behind a Lycoming 580 several hours weekly and I sometimes get a mellow but very rhythmic vibration that will just faintly come and go without notice. May happen for 5 minutes in 20 hours. May happen for 10 minutes out of a weeks flying, or may not happen at all. Its baffling.
In air mag check doesn’t change it, vastly changing prop rpm doesn’t disturb it, nor does airspeed. I’ve just learned to deal with it. It’s been 700 hours since I noticed it.
