Embry Riddle seeks pilots' perceptions of ADS-B Out mandate

might be more interesting to survery aircraft owners...

Yup....I started the survey. They ask how many you own, then proceed with questioning as if you own only one. For example, I have one with ADS-B already done, and the other airplane doesn't. No way to report those, accurately, so I didn't finish the survey.

Jim

Question 20 is what the entire survey is about, they are going to lobby for a tax credit to buy ADS-B gear.

Finish the survey ignoring the already equipped plane, address the one you haven't upgraded.

I could do that, but doesn't limiting responses to one a/c make asking how many a/c are owned somewhat superfluous?...just sayin'. I suppose I could take the survey twice and claim I only own one each time. :-)

Bingo. Easy sell to congress just tell them how much more they can recoup in user fees. No worries here, pilots will go along with anything if it means more TV in the cockpit.

Its just an online survey, not a section from the FAR/AIM.

Did the survey,do we think the government really cares?

you do realize that transponders are already serialized?.....and that number is listed as part of your registration?....and is broadcast. :yikes:

No way! Next I suppose you're gonna try and tell me that my ADS-B out has my n-number in it too!!!!!

ATC already has all they need to send you a bill....ADS-B won't change any of that.

Take a ride into Canada....and let us know how that works out. :D

We seem quite far afield from the topic of an informal survey offered by a technical school, but I'll agree with you. They have the required information before we ever leave the ground. It's in the IFR flight plan we usually file. Help me understand your point, please.

So....is the sky still falling because of ADS-B "out"?....I think not.

Anyone remember how Mode S turned out?

But that wasn't a requirement for everyone, I thought that was only required by part 135, and on top of that only new aircraft, so existing fleet never had to upgrade?

ADS-B can be a great benefit if we take advantage of it properly.
'splain please.

My mode C tells anyone who wants to know my position, altitude, and transponder code. What additional information will ADS-B be providing that will be of benefit?

Our current system works just fine IMO.

Hmmm. Tracking so we can be charged for ATC services? So you're telling me ADS-B actually stands for:
