Easy transponder replacement?

My current transponder, kt78tso, is inoperable. I would like to replace it with something that would be compatible with the current tray. I just need something quick and easy and am not ready for the ADS B upgrade. Suggestions?

That one is essentially the same as the King KT-74 with slightly different pin-out and price.

I don't know if a Garmin 320a is compatible with your tray, but if it is I have one I no longer have a need for (upgraded to ADS-B), be happy to give you a good price if it works for you.

Garmin sold adapters that would allow their 320A to fit in a King or Narco rack. The adapter fit on to the back of the transponder.

You might want to check the actual part number for your transponder on the dataplate. The KT-76A/78A, Garmin GTX-320A, and Trig TT31 are not direct, slide-in replacements for the original non-A models. In your case, if it is non-A KT-78, then the part number should 066-1034-XX.
