Downtown Atlanta hit by tornado

If I knew that nobody would be hurt I'd wish the Georgia Dome blown completely away. What a god awful place to watch a basketball game. Why in the world do they keep holding the SEC tourney there???

It's a conspiracy! Bama deserves another OT! No team should be required to play a full game, sit for 60+ minutes, then play in OT. It's yet another conspiracy trying to hold the 'Tide down!

Gosh, I didn't hear a word about it. I was buried in the books most of the evening. I had turned on the radio only about an hour ago.

I was down in Newnan, about 40 miles southwest. It rained off and on all day but nothing to speak of for wind or storms. Just low ceilings.

You guys getting too much rain now?

It's funny. The tornado pretty much HIT CNN's World HQ and they still can't do a decent job of covering it. Maybe if Britney had been there.

I went to my basement last night from about 10:30 to 10:50. A tornado signature was shown on radar to go right over my house. Fortunately didn't happen. Went to the airport this morning and no damage there either. More storms predicted for this afternoon. It's a good day NOT to fly in Atlanta.

Heck no! Lake Laneir used to be a great place to do Eights on Pylons. Now the water is so low and there are so many patches of dirt showing, you get lost!

I met a guy a while back with a VERY nice house on an outcrop into the lake. Normally, he has about 1200 feet of shore line. Right now, it's over 1700 feet. Losing ten feet of lake level isn't the idea way to add shoreline to your property!

Definitely on the news in Greenville last night. Now I'm sitting at GSP hoping my 2:30 to IAD gets out before the storms heading here arrive. Latest TAF looks good, but we don't call them "weather guessers" for nothing.

Edit - follow on:

It's now 4:54 PM at GSP. My 2:30 is still sitting at the gate. I'm not on it. Connectionn at IAD is blown. Weather is fine, looks like they're messing around with baggage (W&B issue). I'm now scheduled for a 5:45 PM to ORD, connecting to PDX. My wife and son will drive up to SEA to pick up my Jeep, then my wife will drive down to PDX to pick me up a little after 10:30. Time to spare, go by air. The earliest United could commit to getting me to SEA where my Jeep is parked is Monday. Something about spring break and flights being full. Sure glad we live between SEA and PDX.

I went up to VPC this afternoon to check on my airplane and just missed another tornado coming through the south part of the airport. Fortunately there are no hangars where this one came through but sadly I heard on the radio there were two fatalities.

It was built for football.

Here's a great picture by a local photographer. You can buy large prints if so desired. I'm not really pushing for him but I do think the picture makes for an excellent example of the power of weather.
