If you're gonna make an accidental gear-up pass and settle low enough in the flare to ding the prop on the runway before you realize what you did, and then go around with a damaged prop, don't do it in front of the airport restaurant where an FAA Inspector is having lunch.:frown3:

Wow! How much trouble did you get into for doing that?

None. The Inspector just turned and asked me what I'd seen. Then I went back to my sandwich. He finished his lunch and went down to the other end of the airport where the plane had parked to collect information and photos to pass on to the local FSDO for further review.

Those darn airport restaurants!!! :mad2:

No wonder I reserve my worst landings for PWT. I just know that everybody in the cafe (where I'm headed) is grading my landing. :yikes:

You know, that would be a cool feature at airport cafes...

Put a little dial at each table, and have a big board facing the field that shows the average...:yikes:

The funnest part of this is that near miss will teach the pilot more than any check ride.

Those pucker marks will remind him of that flight for a long time.

Not to mention the expense of repairs!!!
OUCH

Glad he's safe, perhaps a bit wiser too
