Lady Friend is buying a puppy. Small enough to travel in Lady Luscombe. Right now it will be about 10 weeks old and 3lbs +/-. Will grow to about 10lbs. I'm looking for hearing protection recommendations.

Any thoughts?

Some will suggest MuttMuffs. We tried those. They really don’t have any sound deadening properties. Just two plastic cups that don’t fit properly anyway.

I’d suggest getting the puppy used to flying early. It’s fantastic to bring them on trips!
 
Over 3000 dogs flown, no hearing protection on any of them. The only problem dog was a Dalmatian but he probably would’ve been difficult regardless.
 
We put them on my guy. They must do something because he would knock them off his head until we started the engines, then when we put them on after start, he happily left them on. We’ve used the 4Paws product....only problem is convincing them to keep on...sometimes works, sometimes not. Recently came across these, haven’t tried them yet, no doubt should stay on better:

Dr Google (DVM) doesn’t have much to say. If we make the assumption, sensible but not validated, that their ears are damaged by the same noise levels as ours, then we should take db readings in our airplanes and take the data to the OSHA standards.

For instance, my Skywagon makes about 100db in the front seat in cruise (it’s quite a bit quieter in the back seat and even quieter in the baggage). According to OSHA, a 100db occupational exposure can be tolerated for 2 hours every work day without damaging hearing.

Awesome. If you’re willing to share I would appreciate hearing about your experience with the breed. From what we are hearing they would fit well with our family but all the breeders around here are pricey. It’s a big chunk of change to drop on a puppy breed I’ve never met...

I like the looks of those. I always thought somehow wrapping a towel around a dogs head/ears would be better than those plastic cups that might be worse than nothing. But I have no experience with these, heck I don’t even have a dog but I would give those a try fo sho.
