Have you ever met someone that shared in the same kind of adoration of aviation? As a friendship that took off from day one? I know that people fly for all sorts of reasons. It is fun, the status of it, and so much more. I have met many pilots in my day, but I can only think of one that we really understood each other when it comes to flying.
Captain Vega and I would have daily adventures at the airport. We would check out various towers, practice maneuvers and ILS approaches, going to fly-ins, flying to so many airports, and raiding their refreshments area. We were the cookie monsters. There was one airport in West Houston, were we would watch aviation movies till we got tired then flew home. He was a hell of a pilot. Very professional in all aspects. We would show up at 6 a.m. sharp at the flight school and read our books and have study sessions till the sun went down. Every single day. Rain or shine. He and I understood eachother 100% when it came to airplanes. Now we are states away, and it is kind of sad. I will never forget him, and wish him the best in his career. I don't think I will ever meet anyone like him that loves aviation the way he does.
It is cool to hear of unique friendships. Tell me your story.
