I thought these were just social clubs. :-/

No, they are actually founded on the idea of service above self. I'm a Rotarian and I know thats what Rotary is about not totally sure about the JCs but I have friends in Lions and Kawanis and they tell me their clubs are all service oriented. They do do social things but at least with Rotary a vast majority is all service oriented.

Men's group of my Church. Some of the support projects we have undertaken include helping to run our week of the rotating winter shelter, raising funds for a church and school in Haiti and supporting a local food bank with cash and supplies.

Veterans Of Foreign Wars

I am a past Post Commander, District Commander and a past state officer.

The VFW only allows members who have served honorably in the US military AND in a combat theater. The American Legion will accept member who have served honorably at anytime in any place.

Rotary? - No, never really had any faith in those Wankel engines, pretty cool concept, but never worked out the bugs.

Kwanis? - Nope, not from New Zealand.

JCs? - Was in a JC Penny a while ago, does that count?

Lions? - Not a Penn State fan, know lots of people that are, not that there is anything wrong with that.

:D:D - needed the levity, I'm a bit burned out on budget and PowerPoint slides.

Hence the reason my Dad was a member of the American Legion and not VFW. He served in the Navy in WWII, but never left the states.

That be Rotary.

I was a Rotarian for several years and even served as President of my Rotary Club. It was a true honor and Rotarians do great things and charity work int he community. Due to all my job related moves, I haven't re-joined.

I have a REALLY small plane so I joined the Shriners and during the annual parade I put on my clown nose and floppy shoes and do doughnuts in front of the kids....:hairraise::hairraise::goofy::D

The American Legion does have certain time frames of eligibility, set by congress.

Civil Air Patrol.
I am on my Squadron's Ground team, so I train to go out and find ELT's and downed Aircraft. Also, Disaster relief such as Hurricanes (Which is a big possibility down here on the Texas Gulf Coast.

I am a SGT in the Georgia State Defense Force (http://www.gasdf.com/). We are the third branch of the Georgia DoD and primarily support the NG in whatever capacity we can (we conduct OpFor, Color Guard, security) and we are moving to be the primary ground SAR agency in GA.

I am in the "ghost squadron" for the CAP right now, debating on whether or not to become active again.

Finally I am looking at possibly going back into law enforcement as a Reserve officer.

That is enough "volunteering" for me, thank you very much! :D

I'm guessing that's GA-000? I know Ghost Squadron in Texas Wing is TX-000.

What rank are you? I am a Cadet Master Sergeant.

I am a member of the local Lions club, and served as it's Honorable Lion President a few years back.

Forgot to mention, I'm going through the application process to join the Illuminati. We can't let the Freemasons run everything!
