Do I upgrade my 430 to waas and add the other stuff or just buy the GNX 375 and remove the old 330? The GNX has wifi right?


I am guessing $1000 to install the GNX 375? $2000?

Everything on the left is legacy and outdated already. The box on the right is my choice. You just get more bang for the buck.
 
Among other things, any new unit will have a far superior display screen. The tiny screen on my Lynx NGT9000 has far better resolution than my GNS-430W, the latter of which is 20+ year old technology. There is just no comparison between a GTN or newer display and the 430, especially if displaying traffic or WX on the screen.
 
Out of curiosity, were you expecting to get traffic on the 430W with the ES upgrade? Just wondering why the FlightStream other than for pushing flight plans. The 330ES is out only. Being mode-s, you might get TIS traffic in certain areas for a while longer, but that's been getting shut down as radar sites are upgraded. While the 430W is a larger screen, it's lower res and the CPU is much, much slower than the newer stuff. Some folks really like the knob interface, but I find it incredibly tedious for entry, which is where the FlightStream does really help. But for my money, I'd go with the GPS375.
 
GNX needs a FlightStream 510 for WiFi. However, it does have Bluetooth. And labor for adding the 510 is somewhat near 0 (pop in a SD card and update the paperwork). Also, you're going to need to install a WAAS GPS antenna with the right hand solution as well.

The disadvantage with the left hand side is it's ADS-B Out only. You don't get ADS-B In.

How much you can get from selling the 330?
 
The GNX375 does not have a comm/nav radio. If you lose your 430, another radio might need to be installed.

And Icom and Yaesue make GREAT handhelds for a zero dollar install for the one billionth chance the stack com fails.
 
The Avidyne 440 includes the com/nav (and Bluetooth and synth vision and IFD100) and will slide into the existing 430 tray...
 
The right side solution all day long. Sell the 430 for maybe enough to cover installation and the 327 will have a little value on the used market for the skybeacon guys.
 
I would sell what you have while it's still worth something and go for the 375. No contest in my mind. The pennies you might save by upgrading the 430 won't be worth it.
