Funny Dan. I find it sad that Durbin, Patty Murray, Boxer, et.al., fail to see the reality that by undermining the war effort in the administration they only embolden the insurgency to do more. And as the insurgency does more, we are forced to do more to fufill the mission and THEN leave Iraq in some state of a stable country with a functioning government.
If, and I do mean IF, the anti-Bush, anti-war, anti-US crowd would stuff a sock in their pieholes for some given period - 30 days, 60 days, 90 days....and let the DoD do their jobs without criticism, I think the war could wrap up much more quickly and the troops would be home that much more quickly.
It kinda dismayed me that the Durbin and the dems would even make the remark and then not fully apologise for it. A repub would never get by with that, would they? Impeach a repub and praise a dem for the same comments.
I think if I were still on Active Duty, I would be more scared than with Clinton in charge. At least then you KNEW that you were not welcome or respected in DC and got sent on missions with no support, no goal, no logic, rhyme or reason. The military seemed to be Clinton's tool for making the people look the other way. Now the Executive branch seems to care, but the legislative branch is killing the troops, just as surely as an IED or B40, by their ignorant comments.
One thing is certain about free speech - It makes it infintely easier to pick the stupid and ignorant out of the crowd. Durbin, Patty Murray, Boxer, Pelosi, Michael Moore, Howard Dean, Al Gore, John Edwards, and of course the Democrats' war hero John Kerry.
Yes there are republican idiots too, but they just don't seem to proliferate as well as the dem versions. Maybe that could be a dem recruiting tool - "Vote Democrat and get laid!"
