Ack...city life
...pilots complain about how antiquated their 30 yr old planes are but hardly ever (never?) complain about a four yr old laptop going belly up?

On this very date in 2006 I turned my laptop on for the first time. Today the cooling fan is INOP.

2006?!? I've been through 3 laptops since then and have a 4th (3&4 still functioning).

Computers are like a Michael Jackson wet dream. When they reach 5 years old, they're past their prime.

If you did a 100 hour and an annual on your laptop, it would last as long as your 40 year old airplane. But laptops also are not manufactured to fly J-Q Public safely around the country. The quality of the materials in said laptop are decidedly different. (Plus, manufacturers of electronics want them to selfdestruct after a couple of years.)

I've got a laptop that's been operating for a bit over 4 years. It was doing fine until the new version of Golden Eagle came out. That CRAWLS on the laptop, but runs fine on my desktop (which is 3 1/2 years old). Oh well...

My Tibook was still going strong after 5 years of businees use. Still, it was
nice to get a new macbookpro (which is now 3 years old and still my main
work computer).

Actually, the watch I'm wearing was made in 1923, still keeps good time, and has been professionally serviced 3 times in its existence. Find me anything made today that will still work in 2097.
