Looking (for my son-in-law) for some "desert rat" kind of folks. His note to me:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I was thinking about Desert Rats - you know, those guys/families that live out in the desert of the American southwest - from Nevada, to New Mexico to Arizona, perhaps Utah and the southeastern section of California. Kind of like this couple from the movie Tremors http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y_6H617Fcs

I thought you might be connected with those kinds of people and could help me in casting for a new reality series along this line. They'd have to live really interesting lives, be bigger than big characters, have some kind of lifestyle they "have" to live by in order to survive, and have some kind of conflict/stakes going on.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
any ideas?
Greg

I thought the same thing, Adam, and chuckled, too. In reality, it's just the fact that there's such a diverse group of people on here, the purple board, and a couple of the 4x4 boards I post on, that I've almost never failed to come up with a "I know somebody... or I know somebody who might know somebody who..." whenever he comes up with a show idea.

I thought of these guys right off..........

Showing my age, I guess.

Very true Greg I like to joke, What do an attorney, a truck driver, a farmer, a physcian and a forest Ranger have in common?.........

Answer: POA

Terlingua Texas has lots of "off the grid" type folks... don't know if any are particularly appropo to that kind of program... but I bet if he came out here and went down to Studdy Butte/Terlingua and asked around he'd sure find out! It's only about 120 degrees today

So much for the reality in reality-tv.

Those were the only Desert Rats I could think of too.

I'm not familiar with this other group - people who live in the desert SWUSA? Trying to live off-grid or something? Creepy.

Every time I hop in my Jeep I think about how much cooler it would be with a .50cal mounted in the back.

Actually, more and more it reminds me of Burning Man. :dunno:
