Next weekend 7/31 my wife and I will be flying(commercial) into Denver CO.
We will then be driving to Black Hawk to stay for a few days and lose my money.
Last time we were there we drove up Mt Evans.
We are looking at ATV rentals.
So any sugestions on what else to do. Keep in mind I am fat and lazy :wink2:

The tour at the Coors Brewery in Golden is pretty cool, plus you get free beer at the end!

Drive over to Leadville - nice & cool. In fact, anyplace in the hills will be cooler than in town. Lots of great places to eat in Breckenridge.

Denver Art Musem has the King Tut exhibit.

El Chapultapec for great music.

Wander up and down the 16th street mall in downtown Denver.

Take a mountain flying lesson at KBJC and land at Leadville to get your certificate.

The Rockies will be in town so check the sched and maybe take in a baseball game. It's the perfect outing for fat and lazy! :-) Lots of good eats and drinks around Coors field for before/after the game.

so far none of the other suggestions involve free beer.....

I'm just sayin'

There is more to life than free beer...

Just sayin'

Red Rocks Amphitheter. In the foothills outside of Denver in Morrison.

Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs.

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs.

Downtown Denver.

Estes Park/Rocky Mountan National Park.

Evergreen, CO in the foothills (combine with Red Rocks, its just a bit further.

Perfect Landing restaurant at Centennial Airport.

Ghost towns ike Nevadaville, just rent a Jeep. There are several, but this is a good one.

Lots more. Its a great place to explore.

If you're going to be in Black Hawk for a few days, I'd definitely second the suggestion of renting a jeep and exploring some of the old mining areas. It's literally right out the back door from there. Plus, if you take a day away from the casinos, you won't lose as much money there. :)

Nevadaville is literally about 10 minutes from Black Hawk, and very easy to find.

If you're planning on doing Mount Evans, there's a "kind of back way" to get from Black Hawk over to Idaho Springs (where the road up starts) that will take you right through Nevadaville, and also give you the option of doing some exploring (it's next to impossible to get lost up there, because all the roads connect).

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you want the directions for going that way.

Now, it's off to do some exploring.

Do I need to rent a Jeep or will any rental car work :wink2:

Drove to Leadville nice little town walked around with my wife. The wife bought some stuff. Then the 3 hour ride home:cryin:. So is traffic always stop and go all the way into Denver on Sunday evening or did we get a bad day?

How could I forget the Georgetown Loop railroad?
We did the Wine Tasting & Hors d'Oeuvres ride my wife really liked it.

Did Nevadaville with Davids directions to Mt Evans. Well kind of did his diredction could not find one turn and then went off the GPS. Took us down one road that we really should of had a jeep for. But hey it is a rental :D

I even managed to get my fat lazy butt to the summit of Mt Evens.

Two more day thanks guys for the sugestions.

I bet that was Two Brothers Rd. Did you go by an old mine that looked like it had someone living in it? ;)
