Damage at HKY

Especially since every airplane we lose, we essentially lose permanently. Fleet size decreases with every event like this.
 
ouch, that sux. makes me wanna head over to JQF and check stuff out. it rolled thru here pretty fast and furious but didn't stick around long.
 
Sad indeed. My hanger is pretty sturdy but I’m sure the floor is covered in water.

At some point, we're going to have to have some new airplanes. We can't keep flying the old ones indefinitely.
 
Helluva storm - drove through it today on US 321 - a lot of flooding in Boone, NC forced me to find high ground to wait it out a bit.

The question is how the price of the planes change considering how few are produced today.
 
Always a sad day,when airplanes are damaged. Makes aviation,ownership more expensive for everyone.

Indeed. Mother Nature is destroying airplanes faster than we're building them. However, this isn't such a bad thing in that there are way more planes out there than there are pilots and people that can own and take care of them. Eventually, the fleet will "right size", but production has to keep up with natural disasters, accidents and economic retirement of airframes. The only hope for this I see is E/AB kits. Certified clearly can't keep up.
 
I flew through the remainder of this yesterday evening but waited until the red and yellow radar returns had passed my route. still a little bumpy in the soup going over the hill.
 
I'm 19 miles E of Hickory. Heaviest rain I've seen in a long time here. A bit of wind but no damage at our airport as near as I can tell. Most people are hangared.

The crazy thing is that I was supposed to be there yesterday and leave this mornign. That is the airport that I fly into when I go visit the lake house on Lake James and I needed to get there. I ended up having to postpone my trip for two weeks. My plane would have been in that hangar that is upside down!

I'm feeling pretty lucky right about now.

I find it amazing that the Fairchild right next to the destroyed upside down 172 came out of it with just a couple of minor scratches according to my sources.
 
Flew in those storms all day yesterday. Even the light green returns knocked the crap out of us.

We left Greenville/Spartanburg about 15 minutes before a tornado blew over. THAT storm was a one hell of a ride. Departure kept us in most of it until we contacted Atlanta Center. First words out of Atlanta Center was "Why the heck are y'all in this storm. I show you in heavy and extreme precipitation".

The St. Elmo's Fire last night was the most I've ever seen. I could read the flight release by it.
 
The way things are going with the weather, aircraft hangars on the East Coast are going to have to look more like this-

You guys will also need lifts and pumps to attempt to keep planes dry!
