In theory, the GIFs should meet the standards with necessary type ratings, so hiring anyone who meets the standards shouldn't be "cheaping out". But then again, wealthy individuals do not hire the help. Their management team does that for us. I mean, them.

That would be a really good theory if every day was checkride day. Unfortunately, many “professional” pilots don’t apply standards to the rest of the days.
