Crock pot cookers

So I tried crock pot ribs. It's just raining too much for BBQ. I think I overdid them. I was planning on 8 hours but they were done in 6. They were a little too fall off the bone.

my wife and I recently bought an instant pot. HOLY BALLS, that thing is amazing! I highly recommend it

Hadn't heard of it until this post.

From their website: "... designed by Canadians with the objectives of being Safe, Convenient and Dependable."

That's all I needed to know!

She made beef stew in like 40 minutes from frozen beef. Was amazing!

Pressure cooker/slash/crockpot is the only way to go.

Our Cuisinart pressure crock is a staple of the kitchen.

I love the thing because you can put your stuff in it and walk away. It will automatically cook it and go to warm when it's done. And it's fast. A big pot of tough meat to tender stew in about twenty minutes.

about to rip into some crockpot meatballs that have been brewing all day long

I'm going to try the Dr. Pepper pulled pork tonight. Well I'm already "trying" it right now I guess. It's been going for an hour.

So I bought the instant pot pressure cooker. Its basically a super fast crock pot.

I am going to try some ribs today. Instead of using the smoker for 6 hours, i'm going to pressure cook them for 20 minutes and then stick them in the smoker for one hour.

We'll see how that turns out.

I forgot to update this, but the ribs were great. I was reminded to check this thread, because I signed up for camelcamelcamel for price alerts. Its still hovering around $120 but was as low as $93 recently

How about a PIREP on that cooker..

I've done corn beef (with potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and onions) in the crock many times. Great way to start it up, go to work, and have it ready when you come home.

Just as an update, the pulled pork came out really great. The Dr. Pepper didn't impart any taste whatsoever, just tenderized it a bit more. I'm quite sure any other cola drink would have worked out the same.

Probably so would anything with acid. Vinegar would work but is a bit more pungent.

Amusingly, I find reducing Cheerwine (that's a soft drink for you folk not from the Carolinas) makes a good glaze for chicken.

Try the Jeffrey Dahmer stew recipe for the crock pot

Go to any bar and pick up several guys/gals.

Take home, drug them, carve them up into roast size portions.

Add onion soup mix, water, Terriyaki sauce, carrots, potatoes,

Cook for 10-12 hours on high, or till the smell subsides...

Ps.... If the cops come a knocking on your door... claim mental illness..;);)

Ben, I used to think that I'd like to have a beer with you some day.

Now I know I do.
