Crash survival idea

I grew up working in technical theater and all of our wireless mics used 9V batteries that would get changed out every show.

On cold days we would take 5-6 of them, interlock them and make pocket warmers!
 
Wow - thanks for posting that. I'm going to go downstairs and check my battery drawer right now.

I knew 9V batteries had a little kick to them. I remember touching them to my tongue when I was a kid. But had no idea they could start fires.
 
The only ones in my house are in my smoke alarms. Safer to throw them out? ;)
 
When I was a kid I stuck two of them together, nothing happened so I left them in my desk and went out to play. Couple of hours later they were just warm. If you don't store them with steel wool nothing is going to happen, this is like worrying about a hobby pilot's airplane hitting your house.

You can plug 9v in series and parallel to up both voltage and amperage.
 
There must be a rule that journalism majors are prohibited from taking math, physics, chemistry, or any other science classes.

I thought these planes started fires automatically when we crashed.
