Crash at Pecan Plantation by Fort Worth

This post gave me pause for a bit.. as I've been to this field and met many of the EAA'ers out there. There are two of the rotary powered crowd at this large runway community.

It appears the plane was from out of town... so the only good news I can derive from this sad accident is that it wasn't one of my friends..

The pilot's brother (built and flies a Lancair 360) lives on field. The pilot and his wife were flying in for graduation of one of his brother's kids. Very sad.

Very sad indeed.

First responders found no fuel leaking from the tanks. Departure was near Denver, CO. to Grandbury, TX. about 600 miles. Winds here were from the east meaning he had a head wind. That is a long legged flight in a loaded RV-6.

Other eyewitness reports say he stalled on final.

I certainly am not trying to speculate, but I know a couple of the eye witnesses / first responders, and they are still petty shook up.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family for their loss, and for a speedy recovery of the passenger.
