I should also point out that the $4995 install for the GTX345 w/o GPS is in conjunction with a GTN650 install. GTN650 installed was $11,700.
Finished install. Cost was $6676 tax included.Looking info on cost of having a Garmin 345 installed.Anyone who has had one done or gotten a firm quote I'd appreciate your help.

There was a little weather nearby when we picked it up. The ADSB weather depiction on Foreflight was digital real blocky. Not smooth like the images I get from WIFI or LTE.Is there something I have set wrong or is that the way it's going to be?
Not a big deal ,but not as pretty.
See the little yellow and green blocks at the top left of your Ipad. All of mine was blocky like that. Might have gotten better with time to load more data or a stronger signal.
There are 2 radar products for ADS-B, regional and national. Regional has better resolution (less blocky). Neither product's resolution is as good as NEXRAD via internet.Finished install. Cost was $6676 tax included.

Did you guys consider the Lynx 9000 before the Garmin 345? I really liked the Lynx unit I tried at last year fly in.
I'm my case too much money and would be paying for a display I won't really use. My panel mount 345 is way over on the right side on my panel so I remote control it from the GTN screen.
I am curious why you went with the panel mount xponder? Doesn't Garmin have an ADS-B compliant remote mount xponder that pairs with the 650/750?
now there's a cheap solution.....Did you guys consider the Lynx 9000 before the Garmin 345? I really liked the Lynx unit I tried at last year fly in.

When we installed a 650 and 345 in our Warrior we went with using the transponder panel rather than the 650. It's just easier to set the squawks directly rather than have to dig around in the menus when told to 'squawk VFR, go away'.
There is a remote mount version of the 345 that probably makes sense for a lot of airplanes.
Our 345 does know the transponder code, heck maybe it can even set the code. I'll try it next time I fly that airplane.
The only difference I'm aware of on the GTN, when remote control of the GTX enabled, is a permanent icon on the moving map page. Since most of the time it's on that page it's just one tap to access it then enter whatever the code is or the "VFR" icon and then hit enter or enter+ident icon. Pretty easy. Also can use the keys on the GTX.
