Cost Of A Prebuy?

As Jeff C. always said 4-5 hours of labor should easily tell you where your at if your happy with the logs.

I spent $2k when I bought my Archer. I told them to annual it and I want to know every single thing no matter how petty it is.

If you think it is"the one", then do the detailed annual.

I didn't do this. Now I get to think about my airplane everytime I pop a beer. Part of my airplane may be in that can. Beware of repairs that were done in the past and then the same A&P who did them was the same guy who who annualed it for the next 10 years.

So, start drinking beer out of a bottle. It's much better our of a bottle anyway.

:wink2:

Prebuys on helicopters can be and should be comprehensive. Most helicopters have more maintenance requirements and life limited items. A thorough search of part number/serial number plus insuring all the paperwork of the life limited items are complete is essential.

I would include a blade track and a tail rotor balance check, plus a service bulletin check.

I usually set a limit with the mechanic,if the per buy goes well ,I turn it into an annual. Has worked well for me. My range was from 300 for a 172 to 800 for a twin.

What kind of helicopter?
