Huh? The president has been calling it a hoax for two months; time we could have been preparing by stockpiling PPE supplies and ventilators was wasted. Where have you been?
With all due respect, if you are not familiar with all the context surrounding that statement, you should be before commenting in it.

Just a little GLOBAL perspective snapshot to date. While I am not suggesting COVID-19 does not warrant concern...just think if we put this much effort into some of these PREVENTABLE deaths...

There are vaccines under development, but I keep hearing the FDA say that it will take 18-24 months to walk these things through clinical trials. It seems the tweezer heads don’t realize that that we are in an emergency and we need to just skip to the part where we test it on people. A lot more people are going to die in 24 months than will die from a vaccine.

Unfortunately, the risk of a vaccine being worse than the disease is very real. The worst of this would be if the vaccine works, then 6 months later if the host is exposed again, it induces a violent cytokine reaction (immune overreaction) in the host, and turn a disease that has a 1% mortality rate into one that has a 20% mortality rate among the vaccinated.

It's actually pretty likely for something bad to happen. Only about 1% of vaccine trials result in a vaccine that's safer than the original disease.

Keep in mind that 18-24 months is already much accelerated AND assumes a best case scenario. At normal speed a trial would take 10 years.

U.S. intel agencies warned of rising risk of outbreak like coronavirus | NBC News

So far this year, the intelligence agency chiefs have not agreed to release a public worldwide threats assessment or testify in public, because, officials tell NBC News, they are reluctant to discuss intelligence that might displease President Donald Trump. This robs Congress of a chance to question intelligence officials publicly about the national security and economic implications of the coronavirus outbreak.
