No great surprise ...

2021 COPPERSTATE Fly-In & Expo Canceled

We are sorry to announce that the 2021 COPPERSTATE Fly-In & Expo has been canceled due to current COVID-19 restrictions in place.

COPPERSTATE plans to have a limited Fly-In on Saturday, February 13th for those wanting to participate. More info to come as we iron out the details.

A limited number or possibly no vendors will be present but the usual airport facilities will be open
:(

Yes, not a surprise and, yes, disappointing.
What are the predictions for Sun N Fun and Oshkosh?

What are the predictions for Sun N Fun and Oshkosh?
Jack (Pelton) said Oshkosh is still up in the air, but they’re planning for it. Probably won’t be the same Oshkosh experience if it happens.

With Sun N Fun in April there is a significant likelihood of COVID cases still being high, not enough vaccine doses administered. Part of that is there are delays and issues with getting the doses administered. On the other hand Florida is more open than some other states, so they may do it. Then there is a matter of how many vendors will show up and how many attendees would go. A lot of the attendees are more at risk for COVID being older. Plus some of their home states may require quarantining when they get back, which may stop some of them from going.

Even if states get going better on the vaccinations I think Sun N Fun is too soon in the year for it. The main issue may be a downward spiral. With fewer people attending, then fewer vendors will be there. With fewer vendors, even those that might have gone may skip it. All of which may be a good thing. Do we really need a super spreader event with people from multiple states in attendance? I've been and I've enjoyed Sun N Fun, but that's a lot of people closely together; with the indoor vendor space and food areas being the riskiest.

Oshkosh could be doable if the states get their butts in gear and do a better job of administering doses to the public. Same risks apply, and it's a bigger event. The main contention here will be if the vaccine doses can be given in a timely manner or not.

Looks like they're moving full steam ahead!
