I got stuck in traffic northbound on Rt 611 right by the Willow Grove Naval Air Station. The good news is that I got to watch a couple of A-10's do T&G's.

They looked like they were doing 60+ degree bank turns in the pattern as well -- they were flying tighter patterns than many a student in a 172

A-10's operate out of Forward Operating Locations surrounded by bad guys. You gotta keep the pattern high and tight or they'll shoot your butt off.

I've heard transport aircraft flying in and out of various airfields in Iraq fly anything but a normal profile. I've not seen videos but I'd like to.

The are quite good at low slow flight and remain very maneuverable. Coming in tight and low is their specialty. I would watch them when they came into Mildenhall if we were out on the hardstand. It was always a great show.
