I just purchased Microsoft Flight simulator X as a present to myself.
I went to install it last night on my Vista machine.

I got a msi.chm error 1603.
Did extensive web searches, came up with a fix to download installer clean-up. It will not even run that.

Has anyone had this problem?

I am still searching.

The only thing I can think of trying is to install service packs one and two.

MSI.CHM is a help file. Probably sign of a corrupt install source or something. Clear your temporary files, make sure you have plenty of free disk space, check to verify there isn't a chunk of mud on the install DVD, then try again. Good luck!

If you ever return this to get a real flight sim, check out X-Plane.com. :D

Axe over on alt.games.microsoft.flight-sim - someone there is likely to know the answer

Will get you there if you don't have usenet access, but it's a sucky interface.

Or, bail on the MSFS and get over your (simulated) engine addiction: http://condorsoaring.com/
