Columbia, SC? Opinions

We were planning to go to Greenville, SC for the upcoming weekend. T-storms forecasted on Friday have us thinking of a plan B. The forecast for Columbia is better. I would appreciate any local knowledge regarding places to stay, things to do, the best BBQ. Thanks in advance.

Could you possibly make it to Charleston? Much nicer!!!! Nothing against our state capitol but much, much more going on in Charleston.

There are some decent restaurants in the Vista area, near downtown, and not far from CUB. For BBQ, I'd recommend Shealy's in West Columbia, which is closer to KCAE.

We've been to Charleston several times. Fine city. A little expensive. I fly into Mt. Pleasant.
