Can someone explain to me why a cold footed bride is some-kind of National story. Heck, it's not even a local story! If this was a guy that got cold feet nobody would care. It seems to me the Cable news hounds turned this piece of domestic melodrama into I don't know what.

Hey CNN, FOX and that other one nobody watches; Social Security? The war? polio in Asia????? It seems to me anybody with their head on right would have suspected this right off the bat. I can't wait for the movie.

Easier to explain than you might think. What made it a national story? It was on CNN. Why was it on CNN? It happened in Atlanta.

It was a fairly ritzy to-do. My guess is that one of the guests was a CNN producer or something.

A similar dynamic to the death of JFK Jr. That was a big story, but certainly not deserving of the play it got. Why did it get play? He was in the same social circle as the New York media elite crowd.

I believe it got news airtime because it was similar in sounding to the Scott Peterson case. Apparently Americans love to hear about how some dude off'ed his wife and then tries to get away with it...

But that's just my opinion.

this is why I don't watch TV news. what I have seen though - I think she's a moron. running away is one thing, calling 911 to report an abduction? hello? she should be committed. sounds like a shallow whiny brat.

I agree. Every cent the public had to spend on her "rescue" should be billed back to her. Whoever she was engaged to would be nuts to continue trying to establish a lasting relationship with her.

I think that all was fine up until the point where she reported an abduction. I feel for this Gal, I really do. Getting married can be stressful. I have no problem with her (premeditated) exit from the situation, in fact I applaud her. However, calling up the police and making a false report is wrong, just plain wrong. I think she should be punished for doing it.

What bugs me is that she left her poor fiance hanging. The poor guy was nearly locked up for murder!

Is that what we're coming to - if somebody disappears let's assume that the spouse/boyfriend/etc killed her?

and what if she really had never come back? changed her identity, and so on.

Unfortunately, if a female disappears it HAS become the norm for the husband or boyfriend to become an immediate media and/or general public suspect. Then they put the pressure on the police - "Why isn't this guy under arrest?" This fellow had to go through a polygraph simply because he's the fiance - no evidence or even hint of evidence that he was associated with any foul play.

Jail time for the false abduction ploy, then the psych ward until she's "cured" and then more jail. Then she should pay back all the needless expenses incured by the public plus fines & damages. No income should be realized by her or involved parties in any way for the publication of her "story". Yeah right.

"Abduction" is the buzz word of the moment right now. God, someone goes out for a long walk and the world freaks out! The world (the press and some elements of this country anyway) is on a security jag. It's bad for us pilots, as we are frequently the target of the "GA is not secure" yelp. And it just adds a certain level of hysteria to a time when there is already enough trouble in the world to go around.

Sorry. Rant. Will stop now.

If only she could have been somehow "rescued" by a General Aviation aircraft...

The sad thing is that after all this is over, she'll have worked a book deal and probably movie rights, married her aerobics instructor, had twins with a famous basketball player and joined a cult to become one with the world. Sheesh.

Probably so. There were HUNDREDS of guests on the list.
