Hi All,

I currently have a deferred first class medical (yes I’m already going through the process of SI). The exam has been completed, it was deferred due to a past medical incident. I applied for a first class as at the time of the application I was thinking of doing this as a career however after consulting and a future look at family plans, I have decided to do this as a hobby. I no longer need the first class, and would like to change this to a class 3. Is this possible with the first class in deferral? What is the best way to go about it?

im sure one of the docs will chime in here, but once your deferred you have to see it through. as far as I know, anything that will get you deferred would be a deferral under any class anyway. i bet dr bruce will be by shortly and give you the exact answer.

Thanks. I figured a diff was a diff but wasn’t sure how in depth and what all would be required for a first class vs a class 3. If it’s the same than no need to change

Write the FAA a letter identifying yourself name, DOB, and tell them you will accept a 3rd class as your intentions have changed. Certify the mail return receipt to AAM 331, PO Box 25082 Oklahoma City, OK 73125

However know that the commercial standard is often the same as the pvt std, at least for the inital granting of the SI. As you didn't name the SI condition I can't help with that....

Thank you!

I called my office this morning I have a diag code of “Major Depressive Disorder (Single Episode)”. I believe that carried over from the practice I saw before since they closed as the physician retired.
