I need to get serious.
We had our first dinner and gift exchange with just the wife and the kids. I got a rash guard shirt for surfing. We are headed to Mexico in February for two weeks of blue water and big waves. Now I have to loose some gut before then, as a fat guy in a skin tight shirt looks a little silly.

That's the way we are right now in Port Aransas, Texas, out on Mustang Island. The four of us Iowans look like flabby beached whales around here... :yikes:

Thanks a lot for that visual. :-/

Get a large "Ace Bandage" and wrap that gut tight before putting on the rash guard.:D Also FWIW, what we call "heater tops" which are essentially rash guards made from neoprene do a better job of helping you suck it up.

My Christmas present to myself (allow myself to introduce...myself!)

I'm not a sports memorabilia guy, but when I found out they were selling seats from the Spectrum here in Phila, I had to get me some. Too many memories. Good ones. So now I have a little corner of the Spectrum in my basement.

Santa rocks!!

One of the rear anchors still had a fossilized MIke & Ike attached.

Cool. Think of all the beer that was absorbed into that seat ;)

I would have loved to have a pair of seats from Yankee Stadium.... or Fenway if they ever tear it down.

Those outght to be a hit in the NYC area....:yesnod:

Very cool....

Surely those are going into a home theater setup that you can watch the games on, yes?

I got a Sporty's E6B, "The Next Hour" by Richard Collins, and the whole Sporty's Air Facts DVD set (Can you tell I'm a fan of Richard Collins lol).

No presents per say.

But I did buy myself a copy of Twilight: Breaking Dawn to read so that I can finish the series. It is a reading assignment from my teen age niece. These past few months I have had no time for fun reading. Far too many journal articles to be read, several I had to write summaries of and report back to people on. So it is nice to have a little time to just read a fun book. Even if it is filled with teenaged female angst.

Santa was good to me....2 DVDs on maintenance, bottles of Belly Wash and Wash Wax All, a book of aviation poetry, "Because I Fly" and a Taildragger Dragger!

I got a shirt that reads:

"It takes two things to fly: Airspeed & Money"

I also got NCAA College Basketball 10 for the XBox 360, and an electric razor.

Best part of it all:

LOBOS TICKETS TO THE REST OF THE GAMES THIS YEAR (except the last 3). Outfreakingstanding. I love my fiancee.

A fleece, a shirt, some gift cards, Flight of the Conchordes DVD, can opener, soup (semi-gag gifts), and three Goodyear 6ply tires. :-)

A friend and I went to the famous Harraseeket Inn "Broad Arrow Tavern"(Freeport, Maine) for dinner. Before dinner we watched a bear of a piano player in the lounge; beautiful piano.

Oh, the beautiful piano? It's a player piano, but with a really nice tone.

Oh, and the "friend" put one over on me; she picked up the tab.

After dinner we went a short distance down the street.

. . . . . and to boot, the "friend" had told me that after Christmas she was going to buy me new jacket, at:

. . . . and she did. Help me here, folks. The "friend" is a distant cousin who has retired to this area. Whereas I'm far North of being a Redneck, can a distant cousin -- well, you get my drift, I'm sure. We do a lot of activities together. Oh, LL Bean was beautiful, traditional at this time of year.

My brothers wife got all of the letters that my dad had written home when he was in the army air corps, typed them up and and had them bound (with some pictures and some additional context information). Haven't read much of it yet, but I'm looking forward to it...
