2000 C182, casualty of Milton. I’m repainting the new controls before installation, and the new fin will get painted white, but Cessna says the decals are NLA. Anyone know a source for the graphics (obviously the least of my concerns rn but I’ll want them eventually) other than having a vinyl shop make them? Or would you have them painted on? Rest of the stripes and numbers still look pretty good, aircraft has been hangered since new so maybe they’re 5-10% faded. But I don’t think you’ll notice on the fin. Appreciate any advice or suggestions. tia

Paint vs vinyl, paint will look better, however if you ever want to sell giving the buyer the option to at least peel off and change the N number is nice

Plenty of options online. However, not all are equal. Make sure they use 3M aviation vinyl or similar. My go to is Aero Graphics.

Perfect, email sent. I only need to replace the stripes / lettering on the fin and rudder, all the other graphics, including the N number are presentable. And all the other damaged controls being replaced are just painted white. The factory lettering and striping is vinyl I’m pretty sure. I painted everything on my last airplane and I agree the paint is nicer. Thanks!

I think anyone painting an aircraft prior to sale should consider having the
Buyer make the call.

Old School I would paint and cut strips to see what a finished product would look like. Hard moving a painted stripe.

I’m hoping to fly this airplane for another 10 years, maybe more, if my health holds out anyway. Having lived on the Gulf coast since the 80’s I’ve been lucky with hurricanes, until I wasn’t. My previous airplane I painted in the hanger, played with vinyl for awhile until I decided what I wanted and then painted the stripes. N number was vinyl for just that reason.

I ordered a set from Spruce not long ago. They look great. It is not an easy job getting them positioned perfectly. I did a lot of measuring and marking. There’s also a decal application fluid that will help.

are you talking about the N numbers? I’m just looking to replace the graphics on the fin and rudder.

Aerographics is sending me vinyl samples to choose from, then I’ll trace the stripes / lettering myself and cut stencils unless AG has the design file and can print the vinyl directly.

It was graphics for vertical only. Mine was for a Cessna but not the same model as yours. Spruce had a variety in stock at the time. You might want to call. Sometimes things can be difficult to locate on Spruce’s site.

Great info. I"m going to be ordering new stripes and N# for my 2003 Cessna.
