Cessna 172 Full Flaps Suddenly on Final

Let's say I'm on final in a Cessna 172, 80 kias, no flaps, need to slow down, and input full flaps.

Will the airplane float or sink initially?
 
This would be a good time to consider the forward slip. Fast input & fast recovery to straight and level.
And you will no longer be doing 80 KTS.

Hard forward yoke to avoid gaining altitude. You’ll speed up a little but seek 65 and hold it, the flaps will add the drag to get you descending.

Btw, what does your POH say is flaps for a normal landing?
 
Generally, in a high wing, if flaps go down and the nose doesn’t go down it results in a pitch up. What happens when you pitch up?
 
Without adding power? Initially it’ll climb but it’ll slow rapidly and descend, assuming the pilot does some of that pilot ****.

Cessnas with full flaps require the pilot to push the nose down to maintain airspeed. In your example question all you’d need to do is re-trim the airplane.
