I've tried the search function and reading through my old posts, but I can't seem to find the tread that was discussing the Amateur Aircraft racing sanctioning body and some of its upcomming races.

Doe anyone remeber this thread or where it's hiding??

I looked all through that stuff and didn't see a biplane class anywhere... booo. The whole concept sounds like fun though if you had a competitive aircraft.

It'd be a hoot if you got an M20J with a LoPresti speed cowl!!! :ihih:

Show up, start a class - they'll do it for you!

They had a biplane class at the one i raced in.(Great NW air race) A pitts won it. Dave

I'm bummed that I didn't see that thread earlier this year...

That looks like a hoot!

Ya don't need an fancy air craft. I won my class in a stock club owned PA28-180. I ran at max cruise , 75% . I made it an exercise in energy management and navigation. Dave

The fastest race car doesn't always win the race. Of course what you did is the other half of winning, excellent driving/piloting. That was the key to Michael Schumacher's early success in F1, he drove an uncompetitive Benetton-Ford, and yet won the Belgian Grand Prix. If you had raced an equally well flown PA-28 that had been well preped within the rules, you would've been spanked. It always helps to have the best equipment. :wink2:

Just like the sailboat races I used to be in, often the winner depends on how you handicap the ships. I remember the world cup racer streaking past our becalmed boat. It didn't win the race due to the handicap. We didn't either, though our lack of laurels certainly wasn't solely due to the boat. After all, I was part of the crew!

It was fun though.
