I've done a search, but so far nothing has come up to answer my question.

If I've posted a message and find a typo or misquote. Can I edit the post? I've tried the usual suspects and can't find an Edit. So am I just missing it or can you not edit posted messages?

I think you can edit it only for a limited time period after you post it. The idea is you can quickly fix a type, but can't go back and edit old posts that may already have replies.

I suspect that's not true. I just checked a message I posted quite some time ago in the UPS rant thread and the "edit" option was there.

That may be true. I can no longer edit any of the messages I posted earlier today. I'm assuming could edit this one for that brief period as you suggested.

Would be nice if you had that option here as you do at basically all the other sites.

Maybe because you have a high post-count?
I can't imagine that has anything to do with it but I dunno. can u search for your oldest thread/post and see if you have the edit button?

Well, I learned something. When you join, you are a "registered member". After 5 posts and week, you become an "established member", which opens up PMs and posting without moderator approval. After 50 posts, you become a "contributor" which adds editing your own posts and opening classified threads.

I presume this is to prevent spammers from getting a normal post approved and then editing it to include spam.

So which one gives u edit ability and which one lets u edit recent posts vs old posts? Cause I’d imagine asicer meets all the requirements.

So... I should just keep posting random comments I guess...

(There's one more towards 50!)

Xenforo can do time based editing limits, but we don't have it set up that way
