C182 needs a new Prop, cost of Hartzell 3 blade

I need a new prop and getting prices of $8500 to replace existing 2 blade McCauley 203 prop and $10,000 for Hartzell 3 blade Scimitar. This is STC kit only and not labor.

I'm not looking to reignite a debate about 2 blade verses 3 blade for an O-470-R.

What prices are people seeing and where?

Your best bet is to call around some. Pick up a "Trade-a-plane" and see who's selling the Hartzell Top Prop STC kits. Most of them will be propeller shops, and, depending upon the condition of your old prop, they will offer you a trade in on it. Most of the shops that are actively selling the Hartzell Top Prop kits sell them at a discounted rate, and because they are propeller shops, they will often have a use for your old prop parts, unless you had a prop strike or it's simply totally worn out. Find the best price/trade in and go with it. You won't have to make too many calls.
 
You should keep the two blade.

I'd call Rocky Mtn Propeller and put whatever they thought should be put on the front of the airplane on the thing. Seriously.

They've never steered anyone I've talked to, wrong.

Reasonable but not the cheapest pricing, quality work, been around forever, not too many folks go out of town around here to do prop work -- they're just consistent and reasonable.

My $0.02 which won't get you a cup of Folgers let alone a fufu drink at Starbucks.

I would check out MT as well to see how the prices compare. If you do go that route, make sure to go with the "new blades", as that was an updated blade style that is much quieter and better performing. We decided to go with MT for the 414's props.

In the Twin Cessna world, the benefits they claim are all backed up. Quieter, smoother, better performing all around. We haven't gotten ours yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing the results.
 
I checked with MT based on the suggestions here, but it was just that much too far out of my price range. 2 blade was less than $8500, 3 blade Scimitar $10,100, and MT was over $14K. I could stretch $1600 over the 2 blade, but $5500 over was a new Garmin GTX-345 transponder.

Why a new prop? My old McCauley 203 was "old". It was time for either a $4000 O/H with reduced dimeter & blade area close to minimums or a new prop. Old hub had some corrosion and Spinner had seen better days.

I still got decent trade in value on the old one, making a new one practical. Noise was important to me and 3 blades increase the value of the plane more then the $1600 extra dollars as well.

At MT? I don't recall. After I heard the price, I pretty much dropped everything mentally about an MT option. If I was shopping for 3 blade originally I might have stretched, but coming up from a viable 2 blade option it was just too much by comparison.
 
No, it seems to me that you completed a deal with someone - you mentioned that you got a good trade in on your old prop. I wondered what shop you worked with.
