C150 recovery from the mountains in Utah

Stumbled across this while following youtube rabbit holes about offroading. Well-known offroad recovery team gets a call to bring back a downed a C150H that made a (literally) forced landing in very remote terrain while encountering harsh downdrafts that it simply couldn't outclimb. Continuing winds then flipped the aircraft over on its back before it could be recovered. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

Of course, the video focuses on the recovery and not the aviation side, but I thought it was neat to see the less publicized side of post-crash logistics.

Be aware of weather, winds, and terrain! Don't write checks your plane and/or skill can't cash!

My club has a 150 based out of this area. You absolutely can’t mess around with terrain here. And other locations with high DA. I don’t fly it often but once took it to Bryce Canyon with just me and camping gear. That’s 7000+ airport plus DA. Took about 10 miles on departure before even considering a turn.

It appears they're now even more well-known, at least to the law. Nothing about this particular aircraft recovery, but several charges of fraudulent claims to AAA.

The case involves 45-year-old Matthew David Wetzel, who has been charged with one second-degree felony count for filing a false or fraudulent insurance claim, according to the complaint filed by Assistant Attorney General Michael Scott with the Utah Attorney General’s Office.
