Bonanza down, DXR, 2 dead.

A lot of talk on Beechtalk lately...2015 sure seems to be a bad year for Bonanzas in particular.

Not a good day for Bo's ,may they rest in peace.

Although the details are not clear, I do know DXR is a nasty airport.

It's interesting how they always have some "non pilot relative" quote about how experienced the person was, and how they "have experience in all sorts of weather".

Now, I have no idea if that's true or not in this case, but it's notable you never have a quote from someone saying, "yep, that guy was an accident waiting to happen".

:)

While I've only been there a couple of times, I don't think anything is wrong with the airport.

The area has a propensity for low fog and vis.

Tell me about it. I got caught in it once while heading back to DXR from 11N in a Cub after doing some soft-field landing practice. Visibility went from CAVU to zilch in no time flat. I groped my way back to DXR and could barely see the runway while on downwind.

It's all non pilot relative in news reports.

Then once the NTSB gets a hold of it....it's all pilot relative......even when structural failure in lvl flight.

Probable cause: Pilot failed to maintain control of aircraft after structural failure.

Contributing cause: Elevator failure possibly due to corrosion.

My head does spins when I get the final report sometimes.

FWIW, I didn't hear anyone talking about what a great pilot David Martz was when he augered in back in August...

He meant, "non pilot, relative", a person knowing the pilot that is not them self a pilot. However your point still stands as valid.
